This is a developmental program for children in Learn to Skate, Jr. Academy and Intermediate Levels. Ice Sports Skating Academy teaches children how to skate, then guides them in the right direction of the many opportunities through the Skate Canada System; Test Stream, Competitive, Dance, Synchro and CanPower.

 

The Junior Academy Program is intended as AN introduction to competitive figure skating. Skaters must first audition for the program through the Program Director and must be 8 years of age or younger to enter the program. Team coaching, jump TECHNIQUE, spins, off-ice, theatre on ice, artistic figures, games and prizes are all in part of the Jr. Academy Program. THE PROGRAM COMBINES A fun and enthusiastic atmosphere to learn the QUALITY BASICS OF FIGURE skating at a young age. Please contact Miki Mori, the Learn to Skate director, to arrange an audition

The Learn to Skate program is based directly on Skate Canada's Canskate Program. It is intended for boys and girls of varying skill levels and goals. Skaters skills will be assed on their first day of skating and they will be placed in the appropriate skill level based on that assessment. Once a skater has completed all the required skills in their "stage" they will be given a report card, their badge and be moved directly into the next stage.
