The hub of this training centre is obviously the ice sheet and we are fortunate to have access to one of the best figure skating training ice surfaces in Western Canada. The ice sheet itself is constructed and maintained using the needs of figure skating at heart. One of the first things a skater or spectator notices is that it is "warmer" than most training ice sheets. Due to an ingenious heating system that pumps warmed air out over the ice surface from a point slightly above the boards, skaters are treated to a shirt sleeve environment that makes practicing a treat.

Another thing that skaters immediately recognize is the ice surface itself. It is specifically set up to accommodate the tough treatment that figure skaters give ice. It is a thicker ice sheet to serve as a strong base for jumps and is also a few degrees warmer than hockey ice to give it the resiliency and grip that our skaters need.

Another real treat for the skaters is the inspiring environment. The side wall of the rink is home to a fantastic arctic scene. This painting is a fantastic mural of a northern landscape, complete with Inuit stone sculptures.
