NCCP Course Management
One of the benefits that Skate Canada and in turn the BC/YT Section offers is the enhancement and standardizing of all Coaching staff in the province.
There have been numerous changes to the National Coach Certification Program over the past few years and with the introduction of LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development) they will continue with changes for 2 or 3 more years.
The old reference of Level 1, Level 2 etc. is being retired and new names are now in place. For Level 1 certification there is a process now – you start being CanSkate Trained, Primary STARSkate Trained then when you complete your videos successfully, you are now termed being Primary STARSkate Evaluated. If you chose to stay as a CanSkate only coach, you are now required to complete a CanSkate portfolio to become CanSkate Evaluated. You must complete this portfolio within 2 years of becoming CanSkate Trained to maintain your status as a CanSkate coach.
The old Level 2 is gone replaced by ISPC (Intermediate STARSkate Provincial Coach). When coaches complete the components for ISPC they can chose to become either a STARSkate coach or a Competitive coach (Provincial). The practical component is different for the STARSkate coach and the Provincial coach.
Level 3 is in the process of change but not complete at this time.

Bookkeeping
Barb handles the day to day bookkeeping and works closely with the BC Section Treasurer Syd Hughes to make sure the orgnization is fiscally responsible and accurate.
