NCCP Course Management
One of the benefits that the Skate Canada and in turn the BC/YT Section offers is the enhancement and standardizing of all Coaching staff in the province. In order to teach skating in a Skate Canada sanctioned club, a coach must first have their Level 1 coaching certificate. Coaches then can continually upgrade their skill level by following the NCCP courses up to an International Coaching level. Barb organizes the venues, instructors and registration for these across BC and especially during the N'Ice Week.

Coaching Liaison
Coaching ethics, coaching problems and coach/club disputes are all part of the duties that Barb tackles. Keeping a smooth running ship in the provincial clubs is not always the simplest. That's when Barb steps in and helps get things back on course.

Club Insurance
An extremely necessary part of the skating clubs package for club members, provided through Skate Canada, is accident and liability insurance. There is also insurance to cover the protection needs of the club's committee and executive members. It is Barb's responsibility to ensure that clubs obtain this safety.

Minutes of Board Meetings
Barb looks after the recording of the minutes of all the Section board meetings, organizes it and gets copies out to all the respective board and committee members.

Staff Schedules
All of the office staff schedules are organized by Barb, keeping the office up and running efficiently.

Bookkeeping
Someone has to keep things on the straight and narrow financially in any well run organization and at the BC/YT Section office that person is Barb.

On top of all the other thngs she handles such as coaching, office management and helping with the skaters development, Barb does a great job of keeping track of the coffers for the Section.

She is responsible for keeping track of the fees for skating programs, ice costs for the Centre of Excellence, Section executive expenses, goverment grants, money going in and out of the various regions and staff paycheques along with the receivables from the programs, competitions and seminars.
