Connaught Skating Club Benefit Show

On Saturday, January 26th the Connaught Skating Club will be hosting a very special skating show to raise money for a family in our skating community who is struggling with Cancer.

The show will feature 60 of Connaught's Competitive Skaters and will be held on the Stadium Rink at Minoru Arena in Richmond.  There will be a silent auction at 5:30pm followed by the show at 6pm.  Tickets are $10 and are available online at www.connaughtsc.com from December 1st-15th, 2012 or there will also be a limited quantity for purchase at the door.

PARKSVILLE—With just one day remaining here in the BC-Yukon Sectional championships,the entire team that will represent the Section at the Skate Canada Challenge next month in Regina will be known by mid-afternoon Sunday.

The top four finishers in Pre-Novice through Senior events qualify to go on to Challenge Dec. 5-9. The top finishers there travel down the road to compete at the Skate Canada national Junior and Senior championships in mid-January. It is believed the BC-Yukon Section will be sending a team of 58 to Challenge.

PARKSVILLE—She was fifth after the short program but first when it counted most, at the end of the competition.

Whitehorse’s Rachel Pettitt from the Section’s farthest northern club, Arctic Edge in Whitehorse YT, slipped past four others and a field of 53 in total to capture the BC-Yukon Sectionals Pre-Novice women’s title here Friday.

DAY ONE—BC-YUKON SKATE CANADA SECTIONALS

A L-O-N-G DAY FOR SKATERS AND JUDGES

PARKSVILLE—Four champions were crowned here Thursday, opening day of the BC-Yukon Skate Canada Sectional figure skating championships, a day when 102 skaters from all parts of the Province took part.

The championships run through Sunday.

You can`t get much tighter then the results of the top three finishers in the men`s Juvenile free skate, the top three separated by point 8 points.

Skate Canada BC/YT Section is proud to announce that Joanne McLeod has recently become the first Figure Skating Coach in BC to become level 5 certified. Joanne has made a great contribution to the success of competitive skating in British Columbia. We thank her for being a leader and for her commitment to furthering her own knowledge and education.

New Skating In BC Online Show

The BC Section is thrilled to announce the first in a series of BC Skater profile stories beginning this  Sunday, October 7th at 1:00. This 30 minute show will be hosted by Ted Barton and Tarrah Harvey and cover both life and skating experiences of Madeline Edwards and Zhaokai Pang. "Our Journey 2012" will take an inside look at their lives and partnership to date and the experiences of 2012 including a look back at performances from Courchevel, France and Istanbul, Turkey.
