BURNABY—If you follow the sport of figure skating, you know at times it can be expensive to be a competitor.

To that end, and looking for a solution, Vancouver Ice Dance Academy coaches Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe have come up with a unique idea: a golf tournament with all proceeds going to help out their skaters.

BURNABY—The world’s number two ranked woman figure skater, Kaetlyn Osmond, is coming to Burnaby Eight Rinks this week to compete in the annual BC-Yukon Section Super Series BC Summerskate.

The event runs from Thursday, August 14 to Sunday, August 20. Just under 700 skaters will participate in Summerskate, which officially kick starts the BC-Yukon Section skating season.

Burnaby, B.C. (February 17, 2017) – Skate Canada BC/YK Section has selected five individuals for induction to its 2017 class. The induction ceremony will take place at the Skate Canada BC/YK Section Annual Awards Banquet held at the Delta Burnaby Hotel on Saturday May 6, 2017.

BURNABY, BC: Skate Canada BC/YK recognized award winners on April 30, 2016 at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre.

The recipients were presented with their awards on Saturday night at the annual awards banquet. The winners received their awards from various presenters, including, 2016 Canadian Silver Medalist & World Team Member Liam Firus & 2016 Canadian Bronze Medalist and 2014 Olympic Silver Medalist Kevin Reynolds.

The Yvette Delcourt scholarship has been established by the Delcourt family in memory of YVETTE DELCOURT to be awarded to a deserving member of the Kelowna Figure Skating Club who exemplifies the values of dedication, leadership, integrity and sportsmanship to the sport of figure skating.

Jason Mongrain Becomes Second Level 5 Figure Skating Coach in BC

Skate Canada BC/YK Section is proud to announce that Jason Mongrain has recently become the second Figure Skating Coach in BC and 14th in Canada to become level 5 certified. Jason has made a great contribution to the success of competitive skating in British Columbia. We thank him for being a leader and for his commitment to furthering his own knowledge and education.

It is with great sadness that we send this message of the passing of Yvette Delcourt of the Kelowna SC. Yvette has been a critical member of our skating in BC community and it was through her vision and passion that the Kelowna Club and the highly successful competitive program emerged to be one of the strongest in BC and in fact Canada. The skating community has lost a classy, passionate and caring member of our skating family.
