Job description: 

The Snow Valley Skating Club in Kitimat, BC is accepting applications for a DIRECTOR OF SKATING for the 2021/2022 season and beyond. 


Our season runs from August to May with approximately 22 hours of ice time per week with the current schedule but there is definitely an opportunity to expand.  We offer PreCanSkate, CanSkate, PreStar, STARSkate, Competitive and CanPowerSkate with approximately 130 skaters.   This opportunity includes both on-ice and off-ice activities as well as paid club administration.   The club has skaters attending two to four competitions each season, runs at least one test day per season, and a season end gala.  The Club is ready and willing to support new ideas and programs for the interested candidate.    


Applicants should have the following:

-Be a coach registered with, or the potential to be registered with, Skate Canada

-Have a minimum Regional Coach-in-Training Certification


The following would be an asset:

-Be familiar and up to date with the Star 1-5 and Star 6-Gold Program. 

-Ability to teach all levels and disciplines.

-CanPowerSkate would be an asset and added income. 


Kitimat is a growing and prosperous community with the marvel of nature at your front door!  We have access to the river, ocean and lakes, a downhill ski hill, cross country ski trails, hiking, biking and many other outdoor adventures throughout the entire year.


We are seeking an organized and enthusiastic, highly motivated professional with a passion for skating who demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, fellow coaches and the club executive.  The successful candidate must be a TEAM LEADER and be prepared to work with the coaching team and be involved in all aspects of club activities including; Off Ice classes, and coaching PreCanskate, CanSkate, PreSTAR, STAR, CompetitiveSkate and CanPowerSkate.
