Basic Qualifications
Experience instructing skating lessons or hockey programs with a good understanding of progressions and learn to skate skills
The ability to be creative, optimistic, passionate, personable and fun while working with people and excellent customer service, communication, organizational and program planning skills are needed.
Current Standard First Aid certification
Completion of, or in progress of completing the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)
The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
Your core responsibilities include:
Communicate with parents. Provide students with feedback on a regular basis
Evaluate athlete abilities and maintain records of the skills of skaters
Ensure general program readiness including equipment lists, lesson plans, games and activities for a range of abilities
Implement a variety of techniques for students to develop basic fundamental skating skills
Responsible for the safety and progressive instruction of Learn to Skate programs based on the objectives of the specific programs, as well as Long Term Athlete Development Model/Sport for Life
Communicate effectively with the board of directors regarding program needs and improvements
Compliant with program policies and procedures (attendance, report cards, radios, first aid, etc)
