About Us:

 

Figure 8 Skating Club is located in Edmonton, AB and is based out of Kenilworth Arena. Our growing club runs programs including PreCanSkate,CanSkate, Intro to Figure Skating, and STARSkate, as well as off ice training. We offer skating 5 days a week

Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Sat) from September-March, as well as spring skating from April-June. New this season we will also be running a Kickstart Week in August, with potential to add more summer skating in the future.

 

 

Requirements:

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Be a Skate Canada registered coach in good standing
  • Provide a copy of your coach dashboard
  • Min. Provincial Coach certified status
  • Min. 10 years coaching experience
  • Experience coaching up to the Gold Levels in Freeskate, Skills, and Dance
  • Experience Coaching and doing assessments in the STAR 1-5 program
  • Must be able to commit to all skating days in each season
  • Willingness to continue their coaching certification, as well as attend clinics and seminars to stay updated
  • Be able to work in a team environment
  • Experience in competitive skating an asset
  • Experience in a similar role an asset

Roles & Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with our current coaches and board in leading our Club to facilitate our skating objectives
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of our off-ice and on-ice programming
  • Develop and coordinate schedules for all programs following Skate Canada guidelines
  • Be parents’ first point of contact; plan and host parent meetings for all Intro to Figure Skating and STARSkate programs and provide parents with ongoing feedback on the development of their skater
  • Responsible for written/verbal communication to members and parents (Club newsletter, emails).
  • Organize and develop Christmas Gala, Ice show, Kickstart week, special workshops and seminars
  • Schedule and conduct coach meetings
  • Schedule coaches according to the club’s need
  • Provide long range planning and general support for club operations and events.
  • Administrative duties as required

  • Be professional and act as a role model and leader for our coaching team and skaters
  • Have exceptional organizational and management skills
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

 

 

Time Commitment:

This is a year round contract on top of committing to our full on ice schedule in the fall/winter/spring months

Adult/CANSkate/PreCANSkate, Intro to Figure Skating, STARSkate, Off Ice
