Nestled in Vancouver Island's heart, the thriving coastal city of Campbell River was recognized as Canada’s 8th fastest growing community in 2023, Vancouver Island’s highest scoring municipality on Statistic Canada’s “Quality of Life Indicator” in 2025, and is surrounded by majestic mountains, old-growth parks, and inviting beaches. Established as one of the island's earliest clubs, the Campbell River Skating Club offers comprehensive year-round programs to over 300 members. Anchored at the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex, it serves as the centre for the club’s activities.


Role: CanSkate and Academy Coordinator

Working in a team coaching environment, the CanSkate and Academy Coordinator will oversee and execute all components of the CanSkate program, including PreCanSkate, Parent & Tot PreCanSkate, youth CanSkate, Adult CanSkate, Junior Academy (ages 4-7) and STAR Academy (ages 8+). The Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Director of Programs on talent identification, long term development, and to facilitate seamless transitions between learn to skate, figure skating academy programs, and STAR 2 integration.


Requirements:

●      Current Skate Canada professional coach in good standing

●      3-5 years CanSkate coaching experience preferred

●      NCCP Regional Coach status


Assets:

●      Current or previous CanSkate coordination experience

●      PowerSkate Certification

●      STAR 1-5 Assessor Training completion

●      A $500 to $1000 Coordinator monthly salary, commensurate with experience and certifications – separate from Administrative and Coaching rates

●      A relocation bonus may be considered for a successful out-of-town applicant

●      A minimum of two additional hours of paid work each day can be expected

●      Numerous private lesson opportunities are available, both on and off the ice
