About the Club

Coquitlam Skating Club is a growing figure skating club committed to providing high-quality skating programs and a positive, supportive environment for skaters, coaches, and families.

We are looking for an experienced and organized Skating Director / Skating Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of our skating programs and support the continued growth and development of the Club.

Position Overview

The Skating Director / Skating Operations Manager will work closely with the Board of Directors, coaching team, program coordinators, and Club families to ensure our skating programs are well organized, professionally delivered, and aligned with the Club's goals.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands figure skating, enjoys working with coaches and skaters, and has strong organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Operations Management

●      Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Club's skating programs.

●      Develop and maintain skating program schedules in coordination with the coaching team and ice allocation.

●      Coordinate coach assignments and ensure appropriate coaching coverage for each program.

●      Monitor program capacity, registration, and scheduling needs.

●      Identify opportunities to improve and expand Club programs.

●      Assist with planning for additional ice time and new programming as the Club grows.

Coaching Team

●      Work closely with coaches to establish consistent program standards and expectations.

●      Support coaches with scheduling, program planning, and operational matters.

●      Assist with recruiting and onboarding new coaches.

●      Monitor coach availability, qualifications, and required standing/certifications.

●      Encourage professional development and collaboration among the coaching team.

Skater Development

●      Support the development of skating programs for CanSkate, Pre-Power, Power, STAR, Competitive, and development programs.

●      Help identify opportunities for additional off-ice, dryland, harness, fitness, and development programming.

●      Work with coaches to create a positive and development-focused environment for skaters.

Administration & Communication

●      Work with Program Coordinators to ensure smooth communication and implementation of programs.

●      Communicate program updates and operational information to coaches and relevant Club representatives.

●      Maintain accurate program, scheduling, and coaching records.

●      Assist the Board with operational recommendations, planning, and reporting.

●      Help establish and maintain clear operational procedures and policies.

Qualifications & Experience

●      Previous experience in figure skating, coaching, skating program management, or a related role.

●      Strong understanding of figure skating programs and the Canadian skating environment.

●      Coaching experience and/or Skate Canada certification is an asset.

●      Strong organizational and time-management skills.

●      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

●      Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, volunteers, skaters, and parents.

●      Ability to handle scheduling and operational issues professionally and objectively.

●      Experience managing teams, programs, or recreational/sport organizations is an asset.

Compensation:

$50,000 to $80,000 annually, commensurate with:

●      NCCP certification level

●      Coaching experience and expertise

We're Looking For A Coach Who:

●        Is passionate about athlete development both on and off the ice

●        Brings energy, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous learning

●        Works well in a collaborative team environment

●        Communicates effectively with skaters, parents, and fellow coaches

●        Has an interest in off-ice training and long-term athlete development

●        Has experience teaching off-ice classes (preferred)

Qualifications:

●        Hold Skate Canada Provincial Coach Certification or higher

●        Maintain Skate Canada membership in good standing

●        Be available for year-round coaching, including evenings and weekends

●        Have experience teaching off-ice classes (preferred)

●        Jump harness experience is considered an asset

Compensation:

$40–$80 per hour, based on:

●        NCCP certification level

●        Coaching experience

●        Personal and competitive achievements
