The Glengarry Skating Club is currently seeking a reliable, responsible, & mature full-time coach to join our team and establish a career at our club. Located in beautiful Penticton, BC, we operate year-round programs to a current membership of over 400 skaters. Our goal is to promote all aspects of skating in a high-quality environment that fosters not only athletic ability and personal achievement, but also confidence and sportsmanship. Our offerings span all levels of development, including CanSkate, StarSkate, Podium Pathway, PowerSkate, & AdultSkate. To learn more about the club and our programs visit www.glengarryfsc.com.
For coaching time we offer approximately:
Fall & Winter – 28+hours on-ice plus dryland training
Spring – 17+hours on-ice plus dryland training
Summer – 25+hours on-ice plus dryland training
Glengarry also runs a full ice show each spring which our successful candidate will be welcome to join with our current coaching team and collaborate to bring to new heights.
At the Glengarry SC we offer a collaborative and professional work atmosphere utilizing a team coaching approach built around a core of respect for the strengths and abilities each team member contributes. As a club coach, you will play a pivotal role in the development and success of our skaters providing coaching in private, semi-private, and group formats, including both on-ice and off-ice training, and working with skaters of various levels and aspirations to achieve their individual goals. Helping to implement a safe and positive training environment is also a key responsibility.
In addition, the right candidate may be able to tackle the roles of CanSkate co-ordinator, StarSkate 1-5 Assessment co-ordinator, and club administrator. These positions all would come with extra compensation that would be discussed during the interview process.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Skate Canada Provincial Level certification or higher. Note that applicants with a lower level of certification but who have strong credentials and a willingness to complete additional certifications will also be considered.
- Skate Canada membership in good standing (including first aid certification and criminal record check)
- Willingness to work with skaters of all ages and abilities, with preference to coaches who have experience working with skaters from Star5+
- Availability for year-round coaching in club programs, at competitions, and at club events
- Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to reach their full potential
- Values that align with Glengarry’s goal of providing a positive training environment
- Familiarity with the Uplifter system
- Excellent communication skills, both on and off the ice
- Collaborative, team-based coaching approach
Compensation:
- Hourly coaching range based on the Glengarry SC Pay Matrix; $25.00-$75.00/h (dependent on NCCP level, coaching experience, & personal achievements; available upon request)
