Hours: Under 10 hours per week (potential to increase based on enrollment and provincial funding)
Wage: $30-$35/hr depending on experience
Position Summary
The Gold River Skating Club is seeking a motivated and community-minded part-time CANSkate Coach to lead and grow our Learn-to-Skate programming in Gold River. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about grassroots sport development and eager to help increase participation in skating within a small, rural community.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for delivering the Skate Canada CANSkate program, while also supporting efforts to promote skating and build enrollment locally.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver safe, fun, and engaging CANSkate sessions in accordance with Skate Canada standards
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for skaters of all ages
• Support participant recruitment and retention within the community
• Communicate effectively with skaters, parents, and club representatives
• Assist with program organization, assessments, and on-ice evaluations
• Uphold Skate Canada policies, procedures, and ethical coaching standards
Required Qualifications
• Strong interest in coaching and community sport development
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small club environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness and ability to complete all required Skate Canada coaching pathways
Assets (Preferred Qualifications)
• Meets prerequisites to enroll in required Skate Canada coaching courses in 2025–2026
• Commitment to completing necessary training to be fully certified for the 2026/2027 skating season
• Previous skating, coaching, or instructional experience (on or off ice)
• Experience working with children or youth in a recreational or instructional setting
• Familiarity with small or rural community programming
Working Conditions
• This position currently involves less than 10 hours per week
• Hours may increase depending on program enrollment and available provincial funding
• On-ice work primarily during the skating season
• Support from club volunteers and Skate Canada resources
