JOIN OUR COACHING TEAM

Kerrisdale Figure Skating Club is a well-established Vancouver skating club with a 75-year history of developing skaters and building a strong skating community.

We are looking to expand our coaching team and welcome an enthusiastic, reliable, and committed coach who is passionate about helping skaters develop their skills, confidence, and love of skating.

Our club offers year-round programming, including CanSkate, STARSkate, and Podium Pathway programming for skaters of a variety of ages and abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will:

• Have a minimum Skate Canada Regional Certification or higher. Coaches with lower-level certification, strong credentials, and a willingness to complete additional certification will also be considered.

• Have a strong understanding of the technical requirements for CanSkate and STAR 1-5.

• Be able to coach Skills and Freeskate across a range of levels and ages.

• Be confident and comfortable instructing skaters in both group and private settings.

• Demonstrate enthusiasm, professionalism, reliability, focus, and strong organizational skills.

• Be a strong team player who is willing to work within a collaborative Team Coaching approach.

Experience in Dance, Choreography, or specialized skating disciplines would be considered an asset.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

• Work under the direction of our Skating Director, CanSkate Coordinator, and Future Star Coach Coordinator to deliver engaging and effective lessons.

• Participate as a member of the club coaching team in delivering private, semi-private, and group-format classes, both on and off the ice.

• Participate in club activities and events as required, including competitions, test days, Winter Family Skate, and other club activities.

• Participate in Carnival preparation and execution, including being available for all scheduled Carnival practices.

• Contribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative coaching environment.

  
  

TIME COMMITMENT & AVAILABILITY

Fall and Winter Season September to March

Sessions take place on:

• Sunday

• Tuesday

• Wednesday

• Thursday mornings

• Thursday afternoons

• Friday

• 
  

Wednesday and Thursday are critical days of availability. Successful applicants must commit to these two days as a minimum on a regular basis.

Our club offers year-round skating opportunities, and coaches should also be available to participate in Spring and Summer programming.

Spring and Summer schedules and locations vary due to arena closures and ice availability.

COMPENSATION

Starting at $30 per hour, with compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Rates may be negotiated based on years of coaching experience and certification level.

Our Skating Director and Program Administrator coordinate the coaching schedule and work closely with the coaching team to support club programming.
