Job description:

White Rock South Surrey Skating Club (WRSSSC) is currently seeking a passionate, adaptable, and enthusiastic coach to join one of the larger clubs in the lower mainland. We have an exciting opening for a full-time or part-time position to expand our coaching team.

WRSSSC has proudly served our community for over 50 years and continues to grow with over 300+ skaters in CanSkate, Star Academy, and STARSkate/Competitive programs. Our programs operate year round in beautiful White Rock, BC, at South Surrey Arena and Centennial Arena.

We are proud to operate under a team coaching model that encourages collaboration and shared expertise. This approach, in place since 2014, has helped our skaters thrive and reach new competitive and technical heights.

• Coaching schedule with hours available year-round (Spring, Summer, Fall/Winter)

Job Responsibilities:

• Coach across all club programs (CanSkate to Gold Level), including Skills, Freeskate, and Artistic

• Work with skaters of all ages and abilities, with a focus on STAR 5-Gold development

• Teach off-ice programming (an asset)

• Collaborate within a strong team coaching philosophy

• Coach availability: Monday through Sunday, across seasonal schedules

Qualifications:

• Regional-Provincial Coach or higher, in good standing with Skate Canada

• CanSkate Certified and trained in the STAR 1-5 system

• Experience coaching at the STAR 6-Gold level preferred

• Current First Aid certification and Criminal Record Check

• Prior competitive skating and/or coaching experience with a proven track record of athlete development

• Passion for the sport and for inspiring skaters of all levels

• Strong team player committed to collaborative coaching

Work Location: In person – South Surrey Arena, Centennial Arena

Ice Hours: Sept to June  Mornings 6-8:15AM plus Afternoons 3:15-5/6/7/8:15pm – Varies and/or Summer July-Aug  6-7weeks Mornings   - Set hours per season.
