Joanne McLeod

Joanne’s skating journey began in California, but it was after returning to Edmonton that her unexpected coaching career truly began. While volunteering at the Royal Glenora Club - while she was supposed to be doing homework—Joanne discovered a passion for teaching. Her natural ability quickly stood out, and the club soon offered her a full coaching contract.
Driven by her love for the sport and a desire to grow, Joanne immersed herself in dance education and biomechanics. She refined her coaching skills through mentorships with renowned coaches back East, gaining valuable experience and perspective.
Eventually, Joanne settled in Vancouver, where she became Director of the Skate Canada BC Centre of Excellence. Under her leadership, she guided athletes to over 100 national medals, numerous international podium finishes, two top-five placements in men’s events at the World Championships, and appearances at three different Winter Olympic Games.
An extraordinary record for a lifelong dedicated child to champion coach.
