Mary Pearson

Mary Pearson began her skating journey in Toronto, sharing the ice with her sister. From the very start, she was captivated by the sport and the joy it brought. As a teenager, under the guidance of her coach, Sheldon Galbraith, Mary was encouraged to explore a new path in the sport—judging. This new path deepened her connection to figure skating, and Mary steadily rose through the ranks to become a Sectional, National, and ultimately an International judge.
Over the course of her judging career, Mary officiated at numerous international and world-level competitions. Among the most memorable was the 1989 World Championships in Paris, where she witnessed Kurt Browning capture his first World title. She also had the honour of judging at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, France.
Beyond the global stage, Mary remained committed to grassroots development. She regularly judged tests and local competitions, offering guidance and support to skaters of all levels. Her lifelong dedication to the sport has left a lasting mark on the skating community.
