Hello Everyone,

We have received further clarification regarding the Provincial Health Orders that Dr. Bonnie Henry announced on Saturday November 7, 2020.

The Provincial Health Orders state the following:

No person or municipality may provide or host and no person may participate in an indoor sport unless the sport involves no physical contact between the participants.

No person may travel to or from the affected area or between the regions of the Fraser Health Authority and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority for any sport related activity, including practice, training, games or tournaments.

As most Figure Skating activities can take place with participants physically distancing, all Figure Skating activities except for the below may continue as normal.

The following Figure Skating activities at clubs/skating schools/arenas in the Fraser Health & Vancouver Coastal Health Authorities are suspended at this time:

  • Synchro Teams practicing with contact. Synchro Teams may continue to practice but with no contact until further notice.
  • Dance partnering/Pair Skating except for Novice, Junior and Senior Competitive Ice Dance/Pair Teams.
  • Monitoring/Simulation sessions with an official in attendance. Simulations may occur at clubs with no official present.

Please note that this may change at anytime.

It is imperative that clubs and coaches ensure all other Figure Skating activities are taking place with all participants physically distancing. If the club and/or facility is concerned that the program cannot occur properly with participants physically distancing, it is up to the club and/or facility to decide if these programs should continue at this time. This continues to be critical for our clubs to continue to operate.

As of the now, the 2021 BC/YK Sectional Championships, December 10-13, 2020 at Scotia Barn in Burnaby, BC will go ahead as scheduled. If this changes we will send out a communication with further details.
