BC/YT Skaters Heading to Nationals

Skate Canada BC/Yukon Section will be sending a team of 17 skaters and one Junior Synchronized Skating team to the 2024 Canadian National Skating Championships, January 8-14, in Calgary, AB.

Skaters qualified for the 2024 Canadian National Championships through their performances at the recent Skate Canada Challenge - Junior/Senior event in Winnipeg, MB. The Championships will determine the Canadian team for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships, March 18-24, in Montreal, QC.

BC/Yukon skaters came away from Challenge with one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.

Champs’ Chloe Nguyen and Brendan Giang were BC’s only entrants in Junior Dance, and they made it memorable, winning both the Rhythm Dance and Free Dance, scoring 159.03 points.

Fellow club skater Aleksa Rakic held second after the Senior Men’s Short Program and stayed in that position following the Free Program, taking the silver medal with 216.92 points.

Kelowna’s Haley Sales and Nikolas Wamsteeker took the bronze medal in Senior Dance, while Champs’ Kara Yun won bronze for her performance in Junior Women.
